Question

Answer

What is Rapid Project Maker (RPM)?

RPM is a cloud-based configuration tool that allows AV technicians or IT professionals to easily configure an AMX system by using a step-by-step wizard-based approach. RPM simplifies more than just the configuration - it is a comprehensive tool designed to help throughout the process, from start to finish. With no programming required, the user can configure the project, create a user interface and generate step-by-step instructions on how to install the system. Users can store their projects in the cloud, allowing installers to access and manage them from anywhere

Why can't I locate a particular source or output device in RPM?

RPM is designed to accommodate only the most common AV devices in typical conference rooms and classrooms.  If you are unable to locate a device within RPM, it is most likely an uncommon or older device that is currently not supported in RPM.

Can I modify the NetLinx code generated by RPM?

RPM code cannot be modified outside of the RPM web application.  This is a token (tkn) file that reads the RPM configuration that is created on the web application.

Using RPM is it possible to route a source directly to the display and bypass the switcher?

Yes.  There is an option on the AV Connections page to connect a device directly to a display.

In RPM - What happens if the user was configuring a system with RPM and the computer loses power or drops its Internet connection?

RPM will save the project's progress with each page (basically clicking the 'Next' button will save the project to that point.)  This allows a user to log in when a connection is reestablished, select the project they were working on, and continue from where they left off (from the last 'Next' button click)

What languages are supported in RPM?

RPM supports English at this time.  Support for additional languages is on the roadmap.  These will include French, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and German.

Does RPM (Rapid Project Maker) integrate with RMS?

RMS Enterprise monitoring hooks are included in RPM, with RMS Enterprise scheduling on the roadmap.

In RPM - Is it possible to upload or edit the touch panel file?

It is possible to modify an existing template in RPM or even upload a new template to the project space (coming soon), however, page names and all channel codes, address ports, etc. must not be changed on the modified panel file.  The buttons, locations, graphics, backgrounds, and text can be modified or customized.

How is the equipment populated if a pre-populated Room Configuration Template is selected using RPM?

If a Basic, Advanced, or Premier Classroom or Conference Room is selected for a project, the equipment list for that project will be populated based on a predefined selection of equipment for the particular room size/type selected. Equipment can be added or removed from a predefined system in the Devices section simply by toggling the arrows next to the device to be modified.  The maximum device numbers will be represented by the maximum supported devices in RPM.

In RPM - Is it possible to sort projects?

Yes, Projects can be sorted in RPM on the Home page by selecting the ‘Search By’ field then selecting the desired sort from the drop down: All, Project Name, Project Status, System Type, Created By, Modified By.  Enter the search criteria in the field then select Find.

If there is no AMX irl file for a certain device, is it possible to add one to RPM?

It is possible to capture an IR file using the IRIS and the AMX IR capture software.  The irl can then be uploaded into the RPM project space using the File Attachment – Browse File button on the specific device page.

How can I get a complete list of supported manufacturer and model numbers for RPM?

To view a complete list of supported device drivers, log in to www.amx.com using your user name and password.  Go to the InConcert section of the website by selecting the Partners tab then select Search Devices.  From this page select the RPM Compatible check box and click search.  The search results will list all supported manufacturers and model numbers.  You can narrow the search by selecting a manufacturer or device type.

Does RPM support motorized shades or curtains?

Yes, simply add up to two sets of motorized shades by using the arrows on the Devices page for Shades/Blinds.

In RPM - Is there a way to see a comparison between Classroom or Conference Room Basic, Advanced, and Premier?

To view a System Type comparison, simply click on the System Type icon for Classroom or Meeting Room.  The comparison will open in a new window.

Can I change the names of devices or activities (macros) when using RPM?

Devices and Macro names can be changed to a user-friendly name by selecting the name field and typing the desired name of the device or macro.

What macro functions are pre-populated into RPM?

RPM will automatically populate the basic macro functionality for each device, such as powering on the display and other devices as possible and make the proper signal routing for switcher and display.  Additional functions can be added to the macro functionality by selecting the items form the drop down list.

Does RPM support the iPad or other tablets?

RPM uses flash to generate the web pages. The RPM configuration can be done on any device or tablet that supports flash or by using an APP that allows flash on an IOS device. Although TPControl is not natively supported in RPM, it possible to create a custom panel file (save as panel type in TPD4) and use TPControl (Coming soon).

In RPM - Once a project has been completed, is it possible to make changes?

RPM will allow the user to make changes at any section of the project that has been completed.  Simply use the bread crumbs on the left side of the screen to directly access the section of the project that needs to be modified. If a bread crumb item is greyed out, that portion of the project has not yet been completed. Once a section is completed, the bread crumb will be active and can be edited.

Does RPM support power current sensing or video sync sensing for IR devices?

No, not at this time.

Who can see my RPM created projects?

Projects can be seen only by users with the same company ID.

What happens when ‘Generate’ is selected on the Summary page while using RPM?

Selecting the ‘generate’ button on the Summary page will bundle all configuration files, IR files, device drives, selected panel template, and NetLinx tkn file. These project files will then be stored on the hosted server, or can be downloaded to a local computer or server for repository.

Is there any training available for RPM?

RPM includes a series of instructional videos available in the Support section, as well as context sensitive help menus on the right side of each web page.  There is also a user’s guide accessible by clicking on the ? icon on the top right of the screen.  Tool tips are also available by hovering over an item on the RPM screen.

My IR device requires a different pulse time than the default .5 seconds.  Can this be changed when using RPM?

Not at this time.  This can be done on the touch panel configuration pages

Can I change the order in which the sources are connected on the switcher when using RPM?

By default, RPM will automatically populate the switcher inputs and outputs based on the source devices and displays included in the devices configuration process.  It is possible to change the inputs by selecting sources or destinations from the drop down menus on the A/V Connections page.
